Member Onboarding

Have new members provide product knowledge to gathered WSM staff on the first Saturday of every month

Restructure this course 

“First Saturday” event company wide that features and welcomes new vendors in all locations.


1. Purpose & Objectives

The Member Onboarding Process ensures a smooth integration of new members into Westside Market by: 

✅ Providing a structured and informative introduction to the marketplace. 

✅ Familiarizing members with store layout, policies, and expectations. 

✅ Establishing strong relationships between members and store teams. 

✅ Promoting a professional and collaborative marketplace environment.

2. Scheduling & Preparation

📌 Onboarding Sessions: Conducted on the last Wednesdays of every month or as needed, based on booth availability. 

📌 Pre-Session Preparation:

  • A visual presentation and detailed onboarding outline will be prepared to ensure consistency.

  • The Manager on Duty (MOD) or assigned personnel will schedule and facilitate the session.

📌 Third Saturday Ribbon Cutting:

  • SM to schedule every new member on the third Saturday of the month
  • Min of 30 min between each ribbon cutting.
  • Refreshment should be provided at central location picked by SM.
  • Gather all your sales team to be introduced to the new member and their product. 
  • Member will ring the BIG BELL
  • Two sales team will hold the ribbon while new member cut the ribbon with our big scissors.
  • SM should have a team member taking pictures of each ribbon cutting for Social Media.
  • Members are welcome to invite their friends and family to the event.    

3. Onboarding Process – Step-by-Step

3.1 Welcome & Introduction 

📌 Led by MOD 

✅ A warm welcome is extended to new members, emphasizing their importance to Westside Market. 

✅ The manager provides an overview of Westside Market's vision, values, and member guidelines

✅ New members are encouraged to ask questions and seek clarification throughout the session.

3.2 Store Location Walkthrough 

📌 Guided Tour of Store Layout & Facilities 

✅ Members are introduced to the physical space, key areas, and facilities. 

Well-maintained displays are showcased as examples of effective product presentation

✅ Members are encouraged to explore different store sections and ask questions.

3.3 Sign-in Procedure & Sales Practices 

📌 Review of Store Policies & Sales Guidelines 

Sign-in procedures are explained, including how to access necessary software platforms and record sales. 

✅ Emphasis on exceptional customer service, highlighting relationship-building and product promotion. 

✅ Discussion of sales practices, including pricing, discounting, and handling customer inquiries.

3.4 Introduction to Sales & Maintenance Teams 

📌 Networking & Collaboration Opportunity 

✅ Members are introduced to the sales and maintenance teams

✅ Sales and maintenance representatives briefly share their roles and responsibilities

✅ Members are encouraged to reach out for support with sales-related inquiries or maintenance needs.

📌 Final Recap & Resources Provided 

✅ The session concludes with a summary of key points and an opportunity for final questions. 

✅ Members receive contact information for the MOD and relevant teams for ongoing support. 

✅ Additional resources such as a welcome packet or online documentation may be provided.

✅ New members are expected to follow the guidelines and best practices outlined in the session. ✅ Regular onboarding sessions ensure that expectations remain clear and consistently upheld. ✅ Managers will monitor progress and provide additional support as needed.
